Another Trance/Ambient Artist I'm glad to have discovered is Sensorica. I liked the song "The Artifact" and looked for some more material. The latin name "Quadrivium" sounded somewhat mystical. Later I found out that the word quadrivium, meaning "the four ways", stands for the four subjects of art arithmetic, geometry, music and astronomy taught in medieval universities. After listening, I can say that the album really lives up to its name.
The album starts with a backlaid synth and beautiful strings. In addition we hear noises of trains driving by into the distance. You get the feeling beeing send to a long journey into the unknown.
The second song "Natura Rerum" continues our journey with slow backlaid synth melodies and soft drums. In the background you can hear a typical railway station announcement. The song ends with a melancholic yet beautiful piano solo accompanied by strings and nature ambient sounds. I thought of a scenario fitting quite well to the song, imagine you have to leave your home and friends for a long time but you feel nevertheless confident of the future and new interesting things to come. However that's only one possible interpretation of many.
Concerning the rest of the songs, you have to listen for yourself because I simply can't describe them. They set you in a dreamlike state, you will find yourself beeing in many places.
Easily one of the best Ambient albums I ever heard. I hope to have aroused your curiosity
You can listen to the whole album on the Sensorica homepage.
